Masaryk University, located in Brno, is the second-largest public university in the Czech Republic and the leading higher education institution in Moravia. It is recognized as one of the most important teaching and research institutions in the Czech Republic and a highly-regarded Central European university. Masaryk University is currently educating over 35 000 students, 20 % of them international. The Faculty of Arts is one of the four faculties that founded Masaryk University in 1921. Since its establishment the faculty has developed the traditional, humanities-oriented disciplines as well as the fields that represented new research trends in the university environment at that time. The master program English Language and Literature is divided into two tracks, Linguistics and Applied Linguistics and Literary and Cultural Studies.
