Masaryk University, located in Brno, is the second-largest public university in the Czech Republic and the leading higher education institution in Moravia. It is recognized as one of the most important teaching and research institutions in the Czech Republic and a highly-regarded Central European university. Masaryk University is currently educating over 35 000 students, 20 % of them international. The Faculty of Education was established in the autumn of 1946 as Masaryk University’s fifth faculty. The faculty aims to educate and train teachers for kindergarten, primary school, lower secondary school, and upper secondary school. The Single-subject Bachelor's degree programme trains students for the position of a lecturer of the English language in the contexts of leisure-time activities in Leisure-time Centres, in language schools and courses, possibly in language classes in nurseries, and in adult language education. Graduates are able to continue in the follow-up Master’s degree Field of Study Lower Secondary School and Language School Teacher Training in English Language.
