AAU visual arts studiesThe visual arts have been hard hit by the pandemic and the closure of galleries and exhibition spaces made it difficult for artists across the globe including arts students to show their works. Anglo-American University (AAU) in Prague has responded to the trend of art experience moving online and launched a digital initiative where arts students create online presence before graduation.

Led by AAU alumna, Aleksandra Artamonovskaja, the .ART Schools Programme offers students of AAU’s Visual Arts Studies and Journalism and Communication courses a domain, a website builder and practical guidelines on the mechanics of website building.

The initiative will be integrated into the AAU Visual Arts Studies curriculum, a Bachelor Degree program delivered by a faculty of artists, academics and art professionals from many countries. Students enrolled in this program are expected to gain a solid background in art history and theory, with a range of studio-art classes to develop skills in any area of the visual arts, from introductory to advanced level of skills.

The program combines historical foundations across the centuries with an emphasis on the international modern and contemporary art scene. Thanks to the .ART initiative, students will now create online portfolios and track the progress of their artistic development over the 3-year study period.

AAU also has small art-studio facilities on campus and provides external studios in cooperation with local art organizations, which have appropriate facilities. In addition, from September 2020, AAU arts students in their 2nd and 3rd year of study have access to a new studio space at Petrohradska Kolektiv.
