About us
The University of South Bohemia is a modern public university located in České Budějovice that offers a unique experience in a broad range of degree programmes. We educate around 9 000 students at 8 different faculties in more than 200 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programmes. Incoming exchange students (Erasmus+ and other programmes) can study a wide range of courses in English and other foreign languages.
Over the last 30 years, the University has become an important centre for research and development in the region and its excellence as a leading centre of science and research has been consistently confirmed by international rankings.

Admission and entrance exams
Admission procedures may vary at each faculty of USB. For full details visit the faculty/programme web pages.
General requirements
Bachelor’s degree programmes: admission to bachelor’s degree programmes requires successful completion of secondary education that is recognised by the Czech recognition authority.
Master’s and doctoral degree programmes: you must provide official recognition of foreign higher education and qualifications as equal with the education (or its part) attained at a university in the Czech Republic. If the degree programme of your diploma is similar to that offered by the University of South Bohemia, you can apply for the official recognition at the Student Affairs Office of USB.
The deadline for submitting applications is usually between February and April. The date, content, and form of admission examinations may depend on individual faculties, but they are usually held between June and September. Faculty student affairs offices can provide information on applications, admission requirements and studies.

- Proof of English language qualifications (does not apply to native speakers and holders of a prior degree taught in English)

We are proud to be a top-quality science & research centre specialising in education and research in natural, humanist and social sciences.
