Additional information

The Faculty of Economics is a relatively new faculty established in 2007 and it builds on the tradition of economic university education in České Budějovice, which has been developing in the city since the 1960s. Since its establishment, the faculty has achieved many successes. In the field of science and research, the faculty is considered one of the top regional economic universities and its graduates are in great demand on the labour market. Additionally, the faculty is the first faculty in the Czech Republic that obtained the status of a fair-trade faculty and it considers it important to spread ideas about fair trade and social responsibility, not only in various specialised courses provided by the faculty but also in the public.

The Faculty of Economics perceives international cooperation as one of the key activities that enable further development of students' competencies, deepen the pedagogical and expert experience of the academic staff, and increase involvement in international scientific and research activities. Therefore, the faculty has established active cooperation with many universities around the world such as the Victoria University in Melbourne (Australia), the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, universities in Passau and Linz, and the University of Missouri in the USA, the Université de Bretagne-Sud in France, the University of Primorska in Slovenia, and the University of Applied Sciences in Zwickau in Germany.

Scientific and research activities of the academic staff are mainly oriented towards topics closely related to economics, business management and socio-economic factors of regional development. The primary focus is on applied research in which economic problems in practice are solved in cooperation with important regional companies and institutions using modern economic and mathematical methods and models. Environmental economics, or green economics and bioeconomics, are newly developing fields, which are seen as an important direction of innovative processes in the European Union.
